A Christmas Crafternoon

This weekend the lovely roommate and I crafted Christmas decorations for our apartment. I'm planning to share all of these adorable crafts with you so you can bring a little spirit to your own room!

My first craft is extremely simple and a little time consuming. It's really great to do while watching Christmas movies with friends because it doesn't take a lot of focus.

First, pick a word that reminds you of the holidays or winter season... Examples would be NOEL, SNOW, PEACE, SANTA, XMAS, etc... The shorter your word the less time it will take you to make your craft! Run out to the nearest craft store and buy the letters to spell your word out.
These are the style of letters I used!
Next, pick a paint color that fits the holiday season. I picked a light aqua blue color that reminds me of the winter season and goes well with silver rhinestones. Also grab Tacky Glue and a tub of rhinestones.
Now, you can head home to paint your letters! After the paint dries you can begin to glue the rhinestones onto the letter. I suggest taking one side of a letter at a time.
Treat the rhinestones like puzzle pieces to try and get the best fit
I did the front side only at first to see what would work best,
if you like this look then you can end your crafting here!
In the end I decided to rhinestone every side.. I looove sparkles!
If you love sparkles and Christmas spirit then I hope you take the time to make your own rhinestoned craft this holiday season as well! Enjoy!

Marshmallow Frosting Fail

In my recipe Weasley Wish List I posted a marshmallow frosting, so tonight I decided to give it a try. Word to the wise, DON'T. It was a complete failure.

No matter how long I beat it for it wouldn't get thick and fluffy like a marshmallow :( so now my cupcakes are lonely and frosting-less and I am sorely disappointed.

Just wanted to share my feedback! If anyone else comes across this post and knows a better way to make the recipe please share it with me!
until next time,

Weasley Wardrobe

Miss Weasley has recently acquired some new and adorable things to add to the closet! My mom sent me two lovely shirts from J Crew a few weeks ago and over homecoming weekend the roomie and I went shopping in our downtown boutiques :)
The shirts above are both from J Crew. My mom is a superstar and surprised me by ordering these and having them sent straight to the apartment. Thanks mommy!
I got all three of these tops from the shops downtown! I love how they all work well for the different seasons and the ever changing weather we live in here.
I have always had a love for beanies and this one was so reasonably priced I couldn't let myself leave without it...
I am crazy about color so I couldn't help but get this belt. It reminds me of M&Ms!

That's all for this post. Until next time...

a century of coming home...

Homecoming at Mizzou is definitely one of my favorite things about being a Missouri Tiger. Columbia is mostly a college town so I love seeing this place blow up and have black and gold cover every inch. For those of you who don't already know Mizzou is the birthplace of the homecoming tradition! Our homecoming is the largest STUDENT RUN homecoming in the nation, and our homecoming blood drive is the Red Cross' largest donor. It's truly amazing to be a part of the 100th homecoming.

I spent most of the weekend with the roomie and the lovely Andie. Friday night was spent at the Campus Decs. Campus Decs (or House Decs, whichever you prefer) is hosted in Greek town. The sororities are paired with fraternities and each pairing makes a large decorated board that goes with a theme they have been assigned. Our theme was Birthdays!

Pi Beta Phi and Pi Kappa Phi's Board
With my fellow Pi Phi loves.

On Saturday we have the Homecoming parade. This year it was at 8:30 a.m. and both the roommate and I slept through it by accident. But most importantly, Saturday was the Homecoming football game against the Iowa State Cyclones. We easily beat them, but the spirit of the game was what made it worth going for... and the free pom poms!
Holly (right) and me at the game
As for the Homecoming competition, the Homecoming banner I was a chair for WON 3rd PLACE!
Andie (left) and Kristin (middle) with my winning banner!
On top of Homecoming already being an amazing weekend, the TEXAS RANGERS will be playing the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS in the World Series! Needless to say, as a Rangers fan I fear for my life on this campus... and in my apartment. So excited for the fun that will come from this rivalry.

Time to get back to the drawing homework. Until next time...

Weasley's Wish List

Time for another Weasley Wish List! RECIPE EDITION!

I've recently been collecting a bunch of Recipes online that I'm dying to try out with the rooms. I find them via blogs and pinterest but never seem to take the time to actually use the recipes, so without further ado...

1. Marshmallow Frosting
I've had my eye on this recipe for a while, I even have the stuff to make it, but we only have Spice cupcake stuff and I think this would be best on strawberry or chocolate.

2. Margarita Cupcake
Obviously I have had a major sweet tooth while looking at recipes... cause this isn't the last dessert I'll post. And nothing could be better than desserts with a touch of alcohol to them. This may be even more important than the Marshmallow Icing!

3. Strawberry Margarita Popsicles
No, I am not an alcoholic, but I seriously appreciate margaritas. I even have a Margaritaville machine in our apartment. But this caught my eye because I know my dear roomie likes strawberry and would enjoy this treat with me!

4. Cookie Dough Dip
This may appear like another fattening dessert, but it's actually a HEALTHY cookie dough like dip! I'm seriously fascinated by having a healthy treat because I'm TRYING (very key word) to be a little healthier so I can lose weight. I'm excited to try this!

5. Parmesan-Crusted Tilapia
The only "real" food recipe for this post! I'm trying to find some different meats to use other than chicken so I don't drive my poor roomie chicken-crazy! I'm a huge fish lover so I thought this would be fun to try. :)

HERE!

6. Healthy Breaded Shrimp
I don't only love fish... I LOVE shrimp. Especially coconut shrimp. I only know two ways to make good shrimp. Bake with garlic and lemon juice or just cook and dip in sauce as an appetizer. When I saw a healthy recipe for jumbo shrimp I knew I had to save it so I can try it out soon :)

The Recipe!

Let me know if you try any of these out and I'll let you know the same.

'til next time,

it's a bird.. it's a plane... it's SUPER MOUSE.

So recently, my roommate and I have recently discovered that we actually have a third roommate, a mouse. Since the roomie is gone for the weekend and won't return until the wee hours of the morning tomorrow, Winston and I have the place the ourselves. Or Scabbers. Or Ratatouille Junior. Well, we all sort of have different name for Mr. Mouse (oh, that's another one) but the only thing we all seem to have subconciously agreed on is that the little monster is a boy.

First of all, my main question is "how on EARTH did a mouse maneuver it's way to the 4th floor of a brand apartment complex?" Since there are no Tom and Jerry mouse holes in sight this is still a mystery to us. Our only conclusion is he must be super mouse, which frightens me. At first I was jumping on the counter screaming at the sight of him, but after a few days of him still not being caught in our mouse traps we have learned to coexist with him and ignore him. Until we find droppings.

Back to the real point of the post, to share pictures of the cabinet building adventure with the roomie!
Kristin put on the shoes of "man of the house" and put together our awesome cabinet while we rocked face masks and watched How I Met Your Mother season 6! That's all I have to share of this adventure :)

Day Zero Project

Hi my lovelies I just wanted to point out that there is a new tab you can click on, "Day Zero." Most of the information about the project can be found there, and I'm really excited to continue sharing my adventures via this blog rather than the old one!
I'm just going to leave you now with this fantastic photo. boy oh boy don't you want to party with me?

blog plans

as I mentioned in a previous post, the roomie and I ordered dresses from Red Velvet (owned by Elsie, Rachel, and Emma). on her blog before the dress line was released, Elsie did a series of "3 Ways to Wear It" for some of her dresses, but she never found the time to do it for my dress, the Geometry Class Dress! So I have decided to find time this week to make my own version for all of you since the Geometry Class Dress is still on sale. Maybe I'll collaborate with the roomie on this one even though her dress already had a "3 Ways to Wear It" post.

So get excited to see all the adorable ways you can make this lovely little dress anywhere from fancy to casual. I'm in love with it, a big congratulations to the whole crew at Red Velvet for such a successfully beautiful second dress line!

Weasley's Wish List

As I try to avoid studying and homework, naturally I make my way back to my blog. Did you miss me?

Today I decided I want to post because I've been collecting quite a few tabs on my webbrowser to try and save all the things I adore and want badly, but it's become quite a mess to save them all, so I decided to post my little wish list here! I really love this idea for the blog because whenever the holidays come around I tend to blank on my thousands of wishes and regret it once they miraculously return post-holiday season.

Without further ado, you may now scroll down to Miss Weasley's Wish List!
JoTotes Camera Bags! I can't decide if I love the Betsy in mustard or the Millie in coral... Coral is such a beautiful color and would go with a lot of my favorite outfits, but the Betsy has pockets and would work well with all the Mizzou gold that I own!

I love this handmade keychain I found on etsy. It may just be the recent 5 year anniversary with the boyfriend that made me feel a little cheesy but I'd really like to get him something sweet since 5 years is a little bit of a big deal...

I've been crazy about these Darlingtonia Mocassins/Red Velvet collab since they first came out! I've been going back and forth on whether or not I should buy them for a while. They're $129 so they're a little pricey, but they're handmade... and look at them! They're adorable and the bows are detachable. I'm in love.

I spotted this awesome vintage dress on Pinterest and have been picturing myself in it ever since. Boy oh boy do I wish I had a job and made money... Time to show this list to momma Weasley?

I've been on the search for a semi-larger purse since I got back to the Zou and realized that my teeny crossbodies just don't work for every occasion. I should buy this $20 gem and save my roommate from having her big blue purse stolen every day. It may be plain but it's basically my favorite purse that I already have but BIGGER!

My number one wish of all is to wake up next to this beautiful face every morning again. I miss my Gracie girl and want to kidnap her from my parents!

Oh, and a flight for the boyfriend to come to my date party later this semester.

I assure you this won't be the end of the Weasley Wish Lists because I'm sure that by next week I'll be pining after many more things that I don't need. If I'm not something is wrong with me and you should worry. Until then, that's all!

My Red Velvet Dress!

So tonight the Red Velvet fall dress collection was released (www.shopredvelvet.com) and my roommate and I snagged two of the most adorable handmade dresses!
The Geometry Class dress was my choice! I love the colors and the cut so much! Elsie and the crew at Red Velvet actually personally designed this fabric pattern, so I know it's really unique.
I looooove short little dresses, the low neckline in the back is just a plus! It actually has a matching tie that I would love to get the boyfriend but know he won't wear unless we go somewhere together and I match his tie.... still debating cause it's so adorable.
The roomie chose the Flower Shop dress for her very belated birthday gift. It's one of the cutest of the collection and is the first dress to sell out! It also has a nice low neckline in the back.
I am sooo excited that Kristin and I are roomies and share an apartment now... meaning we share a closet basically.

I JUST WANT OUR DRESSES TO GET HERE NOWWWWW!
and thaaaaat's all for now.

Putting on the Ritz

Soooooo instead of using my 2 1/2 hour break to do something productive (like read textbooks or do my advertising writing assignment....) I wanted to post the chicken recipe I made for the roomie and myself!

Ingredients:
Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts (I actually prefer to use the Chicken Tender cut because it bakes faster!)
Ritz Crackers (I use the whole wheat kind)
Milk (Doesn't matter if it's skim, 2%, or whole)
1 Egg
Butter (If on Weight Watchers or a diet, go for the I can't believe it's not Butter)

Materials:
Baking Pan
Two small bowls (must be big enough to fit your chicken breast inside of)
Ziploc bag

The Recipe:
1. Rinse the chicken in the sink before you begin the recipe
2. Melt a small chunk of butter in one of your small bowls (if using a stick, 1-2 tbsp should be enough)
3. In the other small bowl crack your egg and add skim milk. stir until a mixture.
4. Place a handful of Ritz inside of the ziploc bag. seal the bag and crush the Ritz with your hand. Does not have to be crushed until extremely fine, but most of the Ritz should be well crushed. (I like to leave some chunks for a crunch!)
5. Take the chicken breast and dip it in the bowl of melted butter first. Next, dip it in the egg/milk mixture. Finally, put the chicken in the ziploc bag and shake until thoroughly coated in Ritz crackers. Place it in the baking pan and repeat with other pieces of chicken.
6. If using large chicken breasts, bake for 35 minutes at 375 degrees. If using chicken tenders, bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
7. ENJOY!

It goes perfectly with Kristin's supermegafoxyawesomehot mashed potatoes. She's a genius.

Someday when she successfully starts her blog you can learn her mashed potato ways.

^^ the END.
